Could you imagine that returning home by a regular city bus would end with spraying gas in the face and robbery at the doorstep of your own home? This is exactly what happened in the capital, where people become victims of crime right on the streets of residential areas.
What happened on Bárdošova street
The incident occurred in the evening hours of August 25, 2026. A local resident got off public transport at the Bárdošova stop and headed home. However, he was deliberately followed by a 17-year-old teenager.
The offender chased the man all the way to the entrance or gate of his house. When the victim stopped, the attacker began demanding money. Receiving a refusal or not waiting for an answer, he took out a canister and sprayed the passenger's eyes several times with tear gas. Taking advantage of the person's complete disorientation and shock, the robber snatched a bag from his hands, which contained personal documents, a mobile phone, a bank card, and cash, then fled.
Search and uncovering an old criminal trail
The victim immediately sought help from law enforcement. Criminalists from the third district police department of Bratislava joined the investigation. They began carefully studying possible escape routes and footage from cameras at locations and routes the suspect might have used.
Operational measures yielded results within a few hours — law enforcement identified the attacker. It turned out that the young man was by no means a newcomer to the criminal world. He had previously been declared wanted for another similar violent attack that occurred in the city of Levice. He had been hiding from the police.
Arrest and severe punishment
The extensive search ended on September 20, 2026, when Bratislava police finally tracked down and arrested the teenager. After all urgent procedural actions were completed, the investigator officially charged him with committing a crime. The court decided to detain the young man, so he will remain behind bars during further investigation and trial.
