For entrepreneurs and companies in Slovakia (Slovakia) a large-scale digital reform is being prepared. The Financial Administration (Finančná správa) announced the readiness of the eFaktúra system infrastructure, which will radically simplify invoicing and VAT (DPH) reporting.

Slovakia (Slovakia) became the first country in the European Union to practically implement an electronic reporting model fully aligned with updated EU directives. Thanks to this, a significant part of routine operations previously done manually will be automated.

How the system will work and who is the “digital postman”

Currently, the standard invoicing process looks like this: an entrepreneur creates a PDF file, sends it to the client by email, and at the end of the month or quarter hands over documents to the accountant for entering data into tax reports.

The introduction of eFaktúra changes this algorithm to automatic:

  • Invoice creation: You create the invoice in your usual software or online service (SuperFaktura, KROS, etc.).

  • “Digital postman”: A special licensed communication service (certified intermediary) instantly and securely delivers the document to the buyer.

  • Automatic tax notification: In the background, the system simultaneously sends the necessary tax data to the Financial Administration and receives digital confirmation from it.

For the entrepreneur, the process remains very simple — just press the “Send” button, after which all further actions happen automatically without human involvement.

Key benefits for entrepreneurs

According to the president of the Financial Administration Jozef Kiss (Jozef Kiss), the technology will work in the background, providing businesses with several significant advantages:

  • Reduction of errors: No need to manually transfer numbers and details minimizes the risk of typos and fines.

  • Reduction of bureaucracy: Since the tax office will receive transaction data in real time, the need to submit separate reporting documents will disappear later.

  • Acceleration of processes: Document exchange and accounting will happen instantly.

Implementation schedule and transition period

The implementation of the eFaktúra system will take place in several stages:
