From September 1, 2026, Union zdravotná poisťovňa (Union insurance company) introduces four new benefits for its clients. These innovations aim to simplify access to medical services, reduce costs, and provide comfort in critical situations. Among them are consultations with a doctor via mobile phone, discounts on childbirth at Nemocnica Bory (Bory hospital), free transport for planned hospitalization, and better prices on some products at Dr. Max pharmacies.
The doctor is always near: consultations via the MEDDI app
One of the key new features is the free “Doctor at a distance” service through the MEDDI app. Union insured persons can get a doctor’s consultation via chat, phone, or video call within 30 minutes, both in the morning and evening. This allows getting professional advice for common health problems without visiting the outpatient clinic.
As explained by spokeswoman Beata Dupalová Kszenszigová, in justified cases the doctor can immediately issue an e-recept (electronic prescription), and after the consultation the patient receives a written recommendation. This service is not intended for emergency life-threatening conditions and does not replace emergency medical care. However, it can save time, travel costs, and reduce uncertainty, especially when you are far from home.
Discounts on childbirth at Nemocnica Bory
Expectant mothers insured with Union will receive a significant financial benefit: a 300 euro discount on the Nateo and Nateo Family childbirth programs at Nemocnica Bory. Thanks to this, the Nateo program will cost 690 euros instead of 990 euros, and the Nateo Family program 1,390 euros instead of 1,690 euros. These programs include services related to childbirth and hospital stay, such as a separate delivery room, enhanced comfort accommodation, lactation consultations, and qualified neonatal care. The Nateo Family program additionally offers extended services for parents and accompanying persons.
Insured persons will also have the opportunity to participate in a contest for the Nateo childbirth program. Registration will take place online on the Bory maternity hospital website.
Free transport to and from the hospital
The new benefit (advantage) is also aimed at patients for whom travel to the medical facility may be a problem. Adult Union insured persons who have planned hospitalization at Nemocnica Bory can use free transport to the hospital and back home after discharge.
According to Beata Dupalová Kszenszigová, transport is available from any place within Slovakia. This benefit can be used once every 365 days. It applies to planned hospitalizations but not to outpatient or control examinations, one-day medical care, or other procedures not included in the list of allowed hospitalizations.
Discounts at Dr. Max pharmacies
Another benefit is a 20-percent discount on selected own-brand products available at Dr. Max pharmacies. This applies to products of the brands Dr. Max, Bebelo, Nuance, Skinexpert by Dr. Max, Medreg, and LifeCode developed by Dr. Max. Insured persons can use the discount both in regular Dr. Max pharmacies and for online purchases.
The condition is membership in the Dr. Max CLUB loyalty program. A one-time discount code can be easily generated in the Union mobile app or in the online branch. The discount does not apply to prescription medicines, initial baby food Bebelo Milk 1, and cannot be combined with other coupons, vouchers, or promo codes. However, it can be combined with some manufacturer promotions, for example, the “2 + 1 free” offer on selected products.
