On Friday, August 7, the morning in Bratislava's Petržalka (živnosť - trade license district) started with a series of arsons. The police charged 41-year-old Ladislav with damaging someone else's property. The court has already taken him into custody, and if found guilty, the man faces up to two years in prison.
He acted methodically. On Lietavská street, he first set fire to three plastic containers, and shortly after on the same street — another five trash bins. The series continued on Beňadická: there, on different sites, seven more containers burned — for mixed waste, bio-waste, and paper. In total, the fire damaged 15 containers, with preliminary damages estimated at 3,000 euros.
The most dangerous episode happened around 4:00 a.m. on Ľubovnianska street. The man placed cardboard under a parked passenger car and set it on fire. The ignition at an early stage was noticed by patrol officers from the Bratislava – sever (sever = north) district police station and they extinguished it themselves — the car was not damaged, writes Bratislavaden.sk.
The investigator filed a motion for arrest, and the judge of the Bratislava I City Court granted it — the suspect is in custody. The police are currently investigating the circumstances and motive of the arsons, details were given by the spokesperson of the Bratislava regional police department Lukáš Pecek.
