Andriy, a young Ukrainian student who recently arrived in the Slovak capital to study, will not be returning home. After more than ten days of an intensive search involving police, rescue workers, and dozens of volunteers, the past few days have brought the most tragic news.

The 18-year-old, who was studying at the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Comenius University and living in the Mladost student dormitory, was last seen on Monday, September 28, around 6:20 p.m. on the Danube embankment in Bratislava. Since then, his family and friends have been unable to contact him, and he never returned to his residence.

A large-scale search operation began in late September and continued over the following days. The search involved foot patrols, K-9 teams from the Search and Rescue Module, volunteers from the Voluntary Civil Defense, river police officers, and rescuers from the Slovak Rescue System, who combed through designated locations.

On Friday, October 9, the Bratislava Regional Police officially confirmed the conclusion of the search with a tragic outcome. The exact circumstances, the cause of death, and the location where the young man’s body was found remain unclear and are the subject of an investigation.

The grief-stricken family posted a heartbreaking farewell message on social media. Family members will share details of the funeral at a later date. The tragic incident was reported by the Regióny.sk news portal.
