Residents of Košice, who find it difficult to remove old furniture or other large junk by themselves, can now use the new free service KOSIT Taxi. From September 1, 2026, the company KOSIT together with the city offers target groups of the population a convenient way to get rid of unwanted items directly from home. This is meant to make life easier for those who cannot transport waste to collection yards on their own.
What is KOSIT Taxi and who will it help?
KOSIT Taxi is a service that allows you to remove bulky waste free of charge directly from your residence to the collection yard. It was created to support the most vulnerable categories of the population of the city of Košice.
The service can be used by:
- Pensioners aged 65 and older.
- Single parents raising school-age children.
- Persons with severe disability (ŤZP), living alone.
The goal of KOSIT Taxi is to ensure ecological and legal waste disposal for those who have limited ability to transport it.
How to order the service?
The process of ordering KOSIT Taxi is simple but requires contacting local authorities. To use the service, contact the miestny úrad (local municipal office) of your district in Košice.
Step-by-step process:
- Submitting an application. Contact an authorized employee of the local municipal office of your district and submit a request for waste removal.
- Verification of eligibility for the service. The municipal office employee will check if you meet the conditions to receive the service. Documents confirming your eligibility may be required (for example, age, single parent status, disability certificate, and proof of permanent residence in the district).
- Registration of the order. After confirming eligibility, your application will be registered in the booking system.
- Confirmation of the removal date. The KOSIT dispatcher will check and confirm the waste removal date, and you will be informed.

What waste will be removed and what will not?
KOSIT Taxi is intended for the removal of bulky waste that usually does not fit into standard trash containers.
Allowed waste:
- Old furniture (sofas, wardrobes, tables, chairs).
- Mattresses and carpets.
- Textiles.
- Small construction waste.
Important: Before KOSIT arrives, waste must be sorted by type.
Prohibited waste:
- Hazardous waste.
- Electronic waste.
- Mixed household waste (regular trash).
