The Fire and Rescue Service reported that the flames engulfed a metal shed covering an area of about 250 square meters on Odesa Street. The structure contained wood-processing machinery and stored materials. The fire later quickly spread to a nearby wooden shed and several parked cars.
Thick smoke and difficult firefighting
Firefighting efforts during the night were significantly hampered by strong winds, which fanned the flames. Fire and rescue service personnel worked at the scene alongside volunteers. Due to the thick smoke and combustion byproducts, they had to work in self-contained breathing apparatus.
Rescuers contained the fire with several water jets and then gradually worked their way through the large fire scene to extinguish hidden hot spots. According to preliminary information, no one was injured in the incident, but the property damage is extensive.
Preliminary damage exceeded tens of thousands of euros
Preliminary property damage is estimated at 80,000 euros. A fire investigator also arrived at the scene to thoroughly investigate the circumstances of the incident.
According to experts’ preliminary findings, the cause of the nighttime incident was a technical malfunction in the building’s electrical wiring. Police and investigators are continuing to analyze the exact sequence of events that led to the fire.
