It’s late at night in the suburbs; explosions echo outside the windows, shaking the panes, and a mark from a thrown egg remains on the wall of the house. Residents of the villages of Dunajská Lužná and Rovinka, near Bratislava, have been dealing with this situation for several months now.
According to locals, a group of teenagers aged approximately 13–17 has been staging nighttime raids on electric scooters since the summer. They often hide their faces behind balaclavas and helmets, making it difficult to identify them. According to eyewitnesses, the youths shout insults, threaten residents, and set off firecrackers and powerful fireworks right next to residential buildings.
The most recent such incident occurred last weekend. The teenagers threw powerful fireworks under the windows of a house where children aged 5 and 11 were sleeping, and also threw an egg at the balcony. The homeowner said the explosions were so powerful that the door and sofa shook in the room. One of the families had had enough and posted a video of the hooligans on social media.
Following complaints from residents and media coverage, the police took up the case. If you have witnessed similar incidents or have information that could assist the investigation, law enforcement asks that you report it immediately. In such situations, it’s important to have emergency numbers on hand.
