The Labor Inspection of Slovakia together with the migration police continues active raids at enterprises in the country. During the latest joint inspection in the Nitra region, law enforcement officers uncovered further violations of legislation regarding the employment of foreign citizens.
Joint raid of police and inspectors
On Monday, September 21, 2026, inspectors from the Labor Inspectorate of Nitra in cooperation with the migration police departments of Nové Zámky and Nitra conducted a large-scale inspection. The main goal of the raid was to check the legality of the stay and employment of foreign workers, as well as employers' compliance with all legal norms and conditions for document processing.
During the inspection, law enforcement officers checked 15 people — citizens of Ukraine, Vietnam, and India.
First results and consequences for employers
As a result of the inspection, 4 citizens were suspected of violating the ban on illegal work.
Currently, the Labor Inspectorate of Nitra is conducting further procedural actions regarding legal entities and the workers themselves. If the fact of illegal employment is confirmed:
Employers face significant fines (which in Slovakia can reach thousands of euros for each unregistered worker);
Foreign workers face cancellation of residence permits, administrative expulsion, and a ban on entering the Schengen Area countries.
Law enforcement emphasizes that such joint raids by the migration police and labor inspection take place regularly throughout Slovakia, so both workers and employers should take care in advance to officially and legally formalize labor relations.
