Near the La Franconi Bridge in Bratislava, at the 65th kilometer of the D2 highway heading toward the Czech Republic, a fire broke out in a truck on Monday morning, shortly after 6:00 a.m. This incident caused serious traffic disruptions and a temporary closure of a key section of the road, according to the Refresher News website.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, the burning semi-trailer had already been detached from the tractor, and the flames had completely engulfed the load of tires being transported. Firefighters worked in self-contained breathing apparatus, using several water and foam jets to gradually drag the smoldering tires into the open. According to official reports, no one was injured in the incident.
Due to the rescue operations and cleanup efforts, police were forced to completely close the section of the road. Traffic was diverted toward the D1 highway and Bratska Street, causing significant delays in the morning.
Later in the day, the police reopened the left lane of this section to traffic. The exact cause of the fire and the total amount of property damage are currently being determined.
