On Sunday evening, a fatal railway accident occurred in the capital's Vajnory (Vajnory, a district in Bratislava). Near the local station, a passenger train hit a pedestrian. The man died at the scene from his injuries before the medics arrived.
Law enforcement and emergency services worked at the scene for a long time to establish all the circumstances and causes of the person's death.
Temporary traffic collapse and crossing closure
Due to the tragic incident, train traffic on this section of the railway artery had to be temporarily completely stopped. In addition, during the initial investigative actions and rescue work, the police restricted vehicle traffic through the railway crossing on Pri Mlyne street.
The investigation at the scene is now complete, and both railway and vehicle traffic have been fully restored.
Strange coincidence: car on the tracks near Ivanská cesta
Almost simultaneously with the tragedy in Vajnory (Vajnory, a district in Bratislava), another railway incident occurred — near Ivanská cesta (Ivanská cesta, a street in Bratislava), a passenger car for unknown reasons drove onto the railway tracks. A fire and rescue service crew had to be called to evacuate the vehicle, which was towed away using special equipment.
Whether there is a connection between these two incidents is currently unknown. Journalists have already sent official requests to the Bratislava police and rescue service for further explanations.
