A typical workday at grocery stores in the capital ended with losses totaling more than 7,600 euros. The person who was supposed to be guarding the store’s property was also involved. The Bratislava police are investigating a brazen theft that took place on Šancová Street.

According to law enforcement, a group of criminals acted in collusion with an employee of the store. Working together, they managed to remove a huge shipment of fast-moving merchandise from the premises in just one day.

The criminals’ loot consisted not of basic necessities, but of items that could be easily resold:

  • 53 bottles of alcoholic beverages;
  • 832 packs of regular cigarettes, as well as 11 e-cigarettes;
  • 114 packs of tobacco refills and 12 packages of chewing tobacco;
  • various sweets, as well as phone credit totaling 300 euros.

In addition to the goods on the shelves, the perpetrators also took a secure cash box—a safe containing 1,035 euros in cash.

The city police are now asking the public for help. If you recognize any of the suspects or have information about their whereabouts, law enforcement officials urge you to report it immediately by calling the toll-free number 158, contacting the nearest police station, or sending a private message to the official page of the Bratislava Regional Police on social media.
