The environmental police charged a 47-year-old man and his company with creating an illegal construction waste landfill, with an impressive volume of over 160,000 tons. This waste, consisting of crushed concrete, bricks, ceramics, soil, and gravel, was dumped in a protected water management zone without any permits.
What happened and the consequences
The illegal landfill operated in one of Bratislava's city districts, where materials were used for filling and terrain leveling. This activity not only violated environmental protection laws but also posed a significant threat to the environment, especially water resources. It is estimated that the costs to eliminate this illegal landfill may exceed 6 million euros.
Investigators have already taken measures to compensate for the damages. Movable and immovable property, as well as funds in the accused's bank accounts totaling about 500,000 euros, were seized. This indicates the seriousness of the offense and the authorities' determination to fight environmental crimes.
