This week, the weather in Slovakia has a real surprise in store: after abnormally warm days, a sharp cold snap is on the way. While on Thursday, October 8, temperatures in the eastern part of the country may still reach +27 °C, by Friday, October 9, temperatures across Slovakia will plummet to +12–15 °C. This means a temperature drop of more than 10 degrees in some places, which will significantly change the autumn atmosphere.
According to the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ), a cold front will move across the country, bringing significant cloud cover and rain. Specifically, on Thursday, October 8, temperatures in western Slovakia are expected to range from +20 to +25 °C, but afternoon precipitation may halt further temperature rises. In contrast, the east will still be enjoying the last of the warm weather.
As early as Friday, October 9, all regions will feel the cold snap. Maximum daytime temperatures will drop to +12–15 °C, and in the northern part of the country, even as low as +12 °C. This will be a real temperature shock after the unusually warm days of early October. Be prepared for rainy weather and bring warm clothes so you don’t get cold.
