Changes to International Train Schedules Due to Repairs at Chop Station

Repair work at the Chop railway station on the Ukrainian side will once again disrupt international train service between Slovakia and Transcarpathia. According to Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko (ZSSK), passengers can expect cancellations and schedule changes for certain trains on Monday, October 12, and Tuesday, October 13. These restrictions will directly affect those planning trips from Košice or Bratislava toward Chop and Mukachevo.

On Monday, October 12, the international train R 964 Zakarpatia, which departs from Košice at 5:48 p.m. and travels to Čop (arriving at 8:31 p.m.), will be canceled. This service will be completely suspended on the Košice–Čop section, with no alternative transportation provided. The changes will also affect direct cars from Bratislava to Čop, which usually run as part of the Ex 617 train.

The most significant schedule changes will take place on Tuesday, October 13. On that day, several trains in both directions will be canceled on the sections between Košice and Mukachevo:

  • Trains from Košice: Trains R 960 and R 962 have been canceled.
  • Trains from Mukacevo: Trains R 963, R 965, and R 961 are canceled.
  • Direct cars: On Tuesday, direct cars will not be included in the Ex 620 train, which runs on the route Košice (departure at 1:53 p.m.) – Bratislava hl. st. (arrival at 7:44 p.m.).

The national carrier advises passengers to be sure to check the current schedule before departure and to allow extra time for transfers due to changes in train operations within Ukraine.
