The American company Penetron is beginning construction of its first European plant in Medzilaborce, in northeastern Slovakia. This project is costing approximately 4 million euros. It is not only of local significance for the region’s economy but also has a strategic goal: to become an important logistics hub for Ukraine’s future reconstruction.

Why Medzilaborce Was Chosen

The region on the border with Poland has long been considered one of the least economically developed in the country. However, such investments could significantly change the situation in the local labor market. According to the company’s plans, the new plant will create 120 new jobs over the course of two years, which is a significant figure for this small town.

What the new plant will produce

The corporation specializes in modern construction technologies, particularly in materials designed to enhance the durability and waterproofing of concrete. The technologies of this brand, which has a history spanning more than 40 years, are used in over 100 countries worldwide. Having a plant located directly in Europe will allow the company to significantly reduce logistics costs and meet the demand of the construction sector more quickly.

  • Export volumes: The company plans to export up to 80 percent of its products to foreign markets.

  • Facility area: The modern production complex will cover an area of approximately 2,500 square meters.

Significance of the project for the reconstruction of a neighboring country

In addition to meeting the needs of European customers, the facility is viewed as a key strategic hub. The region’s geographic location allows for the rapid delivery of construction materials for future large-scale infrastructure reconstruction projects in Ukraine once hostilities have ended.
