In the afternoon, a serious traffic accident occurred on Road I/19 between Dargov and Sečovce, in which a child was injured. The driver of a passenger car struck a young pedestrian, after which emergency services and air medical personnel were urgently called to the scene.
The injured child sustained head and lower limb injuries. The landing of the aircraft and police operations completely paralyzed traffic for a time on this busy stretch of road between Trebišov and Košice. After providing first aid and stabilizing the patient on board, Air-Transport Europe paramedics transported him to the L. Pasteur University Hospital in Košice.
Traffic has not yet been fully restored; the road has been only partially reopened. The police are asking drivers to be as cautious as possible and advise them to detour around the problem section through the village of Dargov, and when traveling from the opposite direction, to take the route through Sečovce toward Slanec. Investigators are determining the causes and circumstances of the collision.
