From September 16 to 22, 2026, Kosice will again join the Europe-wide campaign European Mobility Week, which this year is held under the slogan “Mobility for all.” Residents can expect special promotions, transport news, and events dedicated to sustainable transport, safe travel, and support for cycling movement.
The main attraction for passengers is a significant discount on travel documents. The city transport company of Kosice will offer contactless chip cards for a symbolic 1 euro instead of the standard 8 euros. The reduced price will be valid throughout the campaign, from September 16 to 22, 2026. However, this offer is only possible with the simultaneous purchase of a subscription ticket from the DPMK offer, or topping up the electronic wallet on the card with at least 30 euros.
Bike lunch and bicycle service near Mier shopping center
For fans of two wheels and an active lifestyle, a popular Bike lunch is prepared, which will take place on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Jana Mateja Square, near the intersection of National and Glinkova streets.
The event is not only for cyclists; organizers also invite pedestrians, families with children, and scooter users.
- Technical inspection: The sports store CAPRICORN will provide basic service and inspection of bicycles for children and adults.
- Traffic rules education: The regional police department in Kosice will prepare interactive activities aimed at safe road traffic.
- Contests and treats: Quizzes, active contests for the youngest, and light snacks are prepared for visitors.
Children’s art contest with exhibition in public transport
Part of the program is also the traditional children’s art contest called “Fun Transport Vehicle,” organized by the city of Kosice together with DPMK and IDS Východ. Children up to 12 years old can participate, and their task is to draw their vision on the theme “Public transport for all.”
- Drawings can be made in A3 horizontal or A4 vertical format.
- The contest runs from September 16 to October 31, 2026.
- On the back of the work, the author’s name, age, and contact details of the legal representative or school must be indicated.
Interested persons can submit finished works to special boxes located at the Kosice City Magistrate, the DPMK customer center at the railway station, or directly at the IDS Východ office at Bačíkova 7. Organizers will select the best works and exhibit them directly in the vehicles of Kosice city public transport, and winners will receive interesting valuable prizes.
