During the 103rd International Peace Marathon in Košice, which drew about 20,000 participants and caused widespread road closures, one family found itself in a critical situation: a car carrying a woman in labor was completely stuck in traffic near Staničné námestie (Station Square). A regional police motorcycle patrol immediately came to the rescue—the officers quickly created a safe corridor and, with sirens blaring, escorted the car through the gridlocked city straight to the hospital’s emergency room. Thanks to those precious minutes and the police’s swift response, the expectant mother reached the medical staff in time, successfully arriving—as the officers touchingly noted—at “the most beautiful start to her life.”
