Classes at the General Education School with a Preschool in Bidovce, in the Košice-okolie district, were interrupted by a dangerous incident: a gas pistol was found in a classroom. The daily newspaper Korzár reported that a 13-year-old student was in possession of the weapon, after which police immediately arrived at the scene.

As Jana Illeshova, spokesperson for the Košice Regional Police Directorate, clarified to the Slovak Republic News Agency (TASR), the student brought a partially damaged gas pistol without ammunition to school.

The police spokeswoman also confirmed that, fortunately, no one was injured during the incident. The investigation also did not confirm that the boy had threatened anyone with the weapon.

At present, the competent authorities are treating the incident as an administrative offense involving weapons and ammunition. This case once again raises questions about safety in educational institutions and the need for preventive measures, to which the police, in collaboration with school staff, are paying close attention. Details of the incident were published by the Zoznam.sk portal.
