Friday's trip on the roads of eastern Slovakia turned into an unexpected and costly meeting with law enforcement for dozens of drivers. During a nationwide road action, police officers went to the roads of the Košice region, where they thoroughly checked traffic and its smoothness.

What most often exposed drivers?

In the ranking of violations, inattention and ignoring restrictions dominated. The patrols paid the most attention to those who confused the roads with a racing track.

  • Speeding: As many as 90 drivers exceeded the maximum allowed speed.
  • Technical condition: Unsuitable condition of the vehicles themselves was found in 26 cases.
  • Violation of duties and telecommunication devices: In 18 cases, drivers did not pay attention to driving, and 13 times a mobile phone was in their hands.
  • Incorrect driving and overtaking: Incorrect driving was recorded 15 times, and incorrect overtaking in 8 cases.
  • Safety and priority: Lack of seat belts was counted 11 times, and failure to give way in 3 cases.

Alcohol was not absent

Besides visual checks and speed measurement, police subjected hundreds of drivers to breath tests. Alcohol at the wheel in the Košice region was found this time in two road users. A positive breath test result was recorded not only in a car driver but also in a checked cyclist.

The police remind that the main goal of such actions remains the safe return of all road users to their destination, and call for responsibility, caution, and mutual respect on the roads.
