On Sunday evening, train traffic in the capital was stopped by an unexpected emergency event that paralyzed an important section of the railway for several hours.

The discovery of a lifeless human body on the railway tracks on Sunday evening interrupted rail service between Bratislava-Hlavná station and Bratislava-Nové Mesto station, reports the portal Bratislavak.sk. Traffic on this section stopped shortly after 8:00 PM when the train driver noticed the body while moving and reported it to the relevant services.

How the restrictions happened

The stop affected trains, which carriers had to redirect via alternative routes.

  • Route change: Trains of the Slovak Railway Company (ZSSK) were redirected through Bratislava-Rača station during the interruption.
  • Duration: The restriction lasted from 8:08 PM to 11:30 PM, after which the track was fully reopened.
  • Train delays: Thanks to quick redirection, the event had minimal impact on passenger transport; only one ZSSK train was delayed by about 20 minutes.

The police immediately took up the case, establishing the identity of the deceased and the exact circumstances of the tragedy.
