Lunchtime, Friday, a busy intersection under the R7 expressway — and suddenly a garbage truck (garbage truck) tips over on its side. This happened today, August 7, in the Bratislava district of Ružinov at the intersection of Prístavná and Slovnaftská streets. There were three people in the cabin at the time of the accident.
One person was injured and remained trapped inside the overturned vehicle — they could not get out on their own. Bratislava firefighters arrived at the scene: they stabilized the injured person, freed them from the cabin, and handed them over to the emergency medical service Záchranná zdravotná služba (emergency medical service). The injured person was taken to the hospital. There is no information yet about the condition of the other two people who were in the cabin.
The first to report the incident was the Hasičský a záchranný zbor (Fire and Rescue Corps of Slovakia) on their social media page. Besides rescuing the person, the rescuers cordoned off the accident site, carried out fire prevention measures on the vehicle, and prevented leakage of operational fluids — fuel and oil. This is a standard risk when a truck overturns.
The intersection of Prístavná and Slovnaftská is one of the busiest in this district: nearby is the R7 expressway interchange, and Slovnaftská itself leads to an oil refinery complex, so large trucks are a common sight here.
