From September 1, 2026, the single ticket of the IDS PLUS (Integrated Transport System) will begin to operate on some high-speed trains and express trains of the company Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko, a. s. (ZSSK) in the Žilina and Trenčín regions. This will allow passengers to use different types of public transport with one travel document, which should simplify trips.
What is IDS PLUS (Integrated Transport System) and how does it work?
IDS PLUS is a system that combines railway, regional bus, and city public transport in central Slovakia. Its main idea is to give you the possibility to travel by different types of transport with one ticket, making trip planning and transfers easier.
What changes await passengers?
The main change is that some high-speed and express ZSSK (Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko, a. s.) trains will join the IDS PLUS system on three key routes:
between Žilina and Liptovský Mikuláš;
between Žilina and Považská Bystrica;
between Žilina and Horná Štubňa.
This means that on these routes you will be able to use the IDS PLUS ticket not only for regional trains but also for some high-speed ones, expanding your connection options.
Specific routes and trains
From September 1, 2026, the following trains will join the system:
On route R10 Žilina – Liptovský Mikuláš: express trains KRIVÁŇ Ex 502, 505, 525, 526 and TATRAN Ex 600, 603, 604, 606–624, 627–629, 631, 640–643. Trains Ex 651, 652, 653, and 654 will be included on the Žilina – Vrútky section.
On route R50 Žilina – Považská Bystrica: trains R 10701, 10705, 10709, 10710, 10713, 10714, 10717, 10718, 10721, 10722, 10725, 10726, 10729, 10730, 10734, and 10738.
On route R51 Žilina – Vrútky – Horná Štubňa obec: trains R 930–947.
Changes on regional lines
Besides high-speed trains, changes will also affect some existing regional IDS PLUS lines:
The S1 line will be extended from Predmier to Považská Bystrica.
The S5 line will be extended from Turček to Kremnica.
Trains on the route Liptovský Mikuláš – Važec – Poprad-Tatry will get a new designation S31.
Important exceptions and restrictions
Keep in mind that not all trains will be part of the IDS PLUS system. In particular, the ticket will not be valid on high-speed trains R 680 and R 681, night expresses ZEMPLÍN, EuroNight SLOVAKIA, and SuperCity Pendolino Košičan. Also important: on trains of categories R, EC, and Ex that joined the system, the network 240-minute single-use IDS PLUS ticket cannot be used.
These innovations aim to make public transport in the Žilina and Trenčín regions more convenient for trip planning.
