Special forces and forensic experts in Košice detained a 62-year-old foreigner who was wanted under a European arrest warrant. The warrant was issued by Estonia due to charges of subversive activities.

Estonian justice accuses the detainee of a serious crime against state security — intelligence activities and their support aimed against the Republic of Estonia. For this crime, Estonian law provides for up to 15 years in prison after extradition.

The operation to detect and detain was carried out thanks to coordination between law enforcement and national intelligence. The police noted that analytical work and data collected by the Slovak Information Service (SIS) helped establish the movements of the wanted person in eastern Slovakia.

The local court has already chosen a preventive measure for the foreigner — detention. Police and investigative bodies continue procedural actions to transfer the suspect to the Estonian side.
