From August 29, 2026, residents and visitors of Bratislava will face significant changes in public transport operation. The Integrated Transport System of the Bratislava Region (IDS BK) (IDS BK = Integrated Transport System of the Bratislava Region) announced the restoration of tram traffic on Špitálska street, which will return routes 3 and 4 to their usual paths. At the same time, due to construction work, tram route No. 1 will be temporarily changed.
What will change for trams 3 and 4?
Starting Saturday, August 29, 2026, tram lines 3 and 4 will again run on Špitálska street along their standard routes. This means that passengers using these lines will be able to reach their usual stops in the city center again.
Temporary changes for tram No. 1
Due to construction work, tram route No. 1 will be temporarily diverted.
- Towards Šafárikovo námestie: the tram will go via Kapucínska – tunnel – embankment. Stops Centrum (C), Jesenského (B), and Nám. Ľ. Štúra (A) will not be served on this route. Instead, the tram will stop at Kapucínska (B), Chatam Sófer (A), Vodná veža (A), and Most SNP (A).
- Towards Hlavná stanica: route No. 1 will run via Štúrova – Jesenského – Mostová – embankment – tunnel – Kapucínska. In this direction, the Centrum (D) stop will not be served, but stops Jesenského (B), Nám. Ľ. Štúra (D), Most SNP (B), Vodná veža (B), Chatam Sófer (B), and Kapucínska (A) will be available.
Tram No. 1 is expected to return to the route via Námestie SNP at the end of September 2026. Until then, the mentioned changes will apply.
Night route N61 unchanged
The night tram route N61 will continue to run on the bypass route via Ulica 29. augusta.
How will this affect your travel?
These changes mean that some passengers traveling through the center of Bratislava will be redirected to alternative stops in the embankment, tunnel, and Kapucínska street areas. IDS BK advises considering these changes when planning trips through the city center, especially before tram No. 1 resumes service via Námestie SNP.
