With the start of the new school year, residents of Bratislava will notice significant improvements in the operation of public transport (MHD - mestská hromadná doprava, municipal public transport). From September 1, Dopravný podnik Bratislava (DPB) not only returns to the usual schedule with shorter intervals but also additionally strengthens connections to the airport, reduces intervals on the busiest routes, and adds more large-capacity buses. The route No. 27 in the Dúbravka district is also restored, and a new stop Labutia appears in Petržalka. These changes aim to make city trips more convenient and reliable for all passengers.
What will change for passengers?
More frequent trips to the airport and Trnávka
Line No. 61, which connects the city with the airport and the Trnávka district, will now run even more frequently. During morning peak hours, buses will run every 5 minutes, and in the afternoon — every 6 minutes. This is already the third strengthening of this route this year, indicating growing demand for this direction.
Improvements for Podunajské Biskupice and Vlčie hrdlo
On route No. 70, which connects Podunajské Biskupice, Vlčie hrdlo, the Bus Station, and the city center, the morning interval will be reduced from 10 to 7.5 minutes, and the afternoon interval from 15 to 10 minutes. In addition, large-capacity buses will now run daily on this route, including weekends, providing greater capacity. Even during holidays, the morning interval will be shortened to 10 minutes instead of 15.
More connections with Dúbravka and Petržalka
Significant changes will affect routes No. 83 and No. 84, which will run every 6 minutes during morning peak hours and every 7.5 minutes in the afternoon. Thanks to this, the combined connection between Dúbravka, Patrónka, the city center, and Petržalka will be available every 3 minutes. The total capacity on this route will increase by 14%. The No. 27 line in Dúbravka is also restored, running at 30-minute intervals during peak hours.
New stop in Petržalka and better transfers
On routes No. 91 and No. 191, a new two-way stop Labutia will appear, improving service to the southern part of Petržalka. Buses that previously ended their route on Jasovská street will now continue to the Južné mesto stop, providing more transfer options to tram line No. 3. On route No. 98, large-capacity buses will also run daily, which is especially convenient for visitors to sports and cultural events.
Fleet updates and trolleybus lines
DPB is actively updating its fleet. Of the 126 new buses ordered for 2026, 40 have already entered service, replacing older models. This provides not only higher comfort but also more environmentally friendly trips. New buses can be found on many lines throughout Bratislava, including No. 21, 25, 29, 31, 32, 37, 39, 50, 63, 70, 78, 96, and 98, and from September they will also appear on lines No. 26, 68, 83, 84, 90, 91, 93, and 191.
After the completion of the new trolleybus line in Mlynská dolina, large-capacity trolleybuses return to route No. 33, making trips to Dlhé diely more convenient.
Seasonal routes and current schedules
The seasonal line No. 154 to Horáreň Krasňany will now run more frequently, every 20 minutes, due to high demand, improving the connection between Pekná cesta and Horáreň Krasňany.
DPB has also updated schedules for lines No. 50, 65, 67, 78, 80, 87, 98, and 99. Minor changes in departure times are possible to improve accuracy, but the overall volume of transportation remains unchanged.
