The principal of Základná škola (elementary school) on Laca Novomeského 2 street in Košice received an anonymous threatening email. This caused immediate police intervention, evacuation of the building, and a pyrotechnic inspection.
An unknown sender sent the threat shortly after midnight. When staff and students arrived for classes in the morning, the situation quickly became a security threat. The school principal immediately informed the police about the anonymous email.
Police patrols quickly arrived at the scene and evacuated the entire facility. After that, pyrotechnicians thoroughly searched all the school premises.
Inspection results and criminal prosecution
Although the message caused fear among parents and teachers, the pyrotechnic inspection ultimately gave a negative result. No explosive devices were found in the building.
In connection with this, the police started a criminal proceeding for the crime of spreading false information causing panic. As the spokesperson of the Košice region police, Jana Illeshova, reported, it is currently impossible to disclose more detailed information to avoid harming the investigation process.
