All border crossing operations will be stopped during air raid alarms for the safety of citizens. As reported by the spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Andriy Demchenko, after the danger signal, passengers and drivers will have to wait for the all-clear, as processing is completely suspended.
New safety rules at all border sections
Now transit through border points depends on the air situation. This algorithm applies in all directions, regardless of the region. Restrictions affect both western regions (Volyn, Lviv, Zakarpattia, Chernivtsi) and southern regions, including Odesa.
Border guards emphasize that a pause in work is announced at any level of threat. The main reason for this decision is more frequent enemy attacks on border and transport infrastructure. In particular, in September there were strikes near major logistics hubs and railways in Volyn, which creates a direct threat to people in queues.
How passengers and drivers should act during an alarm
During the alarm announcement, it becomes dangerous to stay on the territory of border crossing points.
- Dispersal: Border patrols remove people from waiting areas and direct them to safe places or shelters.
- Prohibition of gatherings: It is forbidden to stay near barriers and close to terminals to avoid crowding of vehicles and people.
- Waiting for the all-clear: Any processing and vehicle movement are completely stopped until the official cancellation of the alarm.
After the air raid alarm ends, control services promptly resume work in the usual mode. Due to forced stops on subordinate transport routes and at the crossings themselves, additional queues may form, so travelers are advised to allow extra time for their trip schedule.
