Saturday morning in the city center started with an unpleasant incident: at the intersection of Slovak (Slovenská, Slovak street) and Fazulova streets, a medium-pressure gas pipeline was damaged. The gas leak near residential buildings immediately mobilized all emergency services, who had to act quickly to avoid any danger to people.
The report about the damaged pipe came to rescuers on Saturday around 8:30. Employees of the Bratislava Fire and Rescue Service arrived immediately, finding that construction workers were already working on site. The situation required immediate safety measures because the gas leak posed a serious threat to the surrounding area.
To prevent the spread of the dangerous substance, firefighters used a special fog spray to constantly moisten the leak area. At the same time, the emergency service of the company Slovenský plynárenský priemysel (SPP) (Slovak Gas Industry) arrived, whose workers immediately began repairing the damaged pipeline section.
Part of the safety protocol was also a thorough inspection of nearby buildings. Firefighters conducted air quality measurements to find out if gas was accumulating inside neighboring buildings and if there was any threat to residents.
The measurement results brought relief. No elevated concentrations of dangerous substances were found in the nearby buildings, and the entire incident ended without injuries or casualties.
