Starting May 8, the Slovak government canceled special prices for fuel for cars with foreign license plates. The decision was made after criticism from the European Commission and because fuel had become more expensive than in neighboring countries. The authorities are also canceling other limits: drivers can again fill more than 10 liters of diesel into canisters. At the same time, the government does not plan to lower VAT or excise tax on fuel, despite the record cost of gasoline compared to the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Poland.
