Residents of Košice, who work or plan to work at the new Volvo Cars factory in Valaliky Industrial Park, will get convenient transport connections. From September 21, 2026, Dopravný podnik mesta Košice (DPMK) (Košice City Transport Company) will launch four new bus lines V1, V2, V3, and V4, connecting the largest residential areas of the city with the industrial park.
This is the result of cooperation between the city of Košice, DPMK, and the company Valaliky Industrial Park, aiming to provide comfortable commuting for the car factory workers.
New routes for Volvo workers
Bus lines V1-V4 are primarily intended for those working the morning shift at Strategický Park Valaliky (Strategic Park Valaliky). They will provide direct connections from key city districts, greatly easing daily travel.
The operation principle of the new lines is similar to the already known "R" routes running to U. S. Steel, meaning the standard fare for city public transport (MHD) (Mestská hromadná doprava - city public transport) will apply.
Where and when buses depart
Buses will depart from terminal stops in the largest residential districts of Košice:
- Podhradová
- Sídlisko Ťahanovce
- Dargovských hrdinov
- From the stop Okresný úrad (District Office) via Sídlisko KVP
Morning trips are scheduled between 5:25 and 5:32 AM to allow workers to arrive on time for the shift start. Return routes will depart from Valaliky Industrial Park between 3:05 and 3:08 PM.
Development of the Volvo factory in Valaliky
The Volvo Cars factory in Valaliky is a significant investment for eastern Slovakia. It is currently in the pre-series testing phase, with full commercial production of electric cars planned for 2027. The factory has already produced the first 100 test bodies, which were sent to Sweden for quality checks.
This project aims to become the largest industrial park in eastern Slovakia and plays a key role in developing the electric vehicle industry in the region.
